Five Decades in Saratoga Springs
The deJonghe Jewelry Story
Since 1975, deJonghe Original Jewelry has crafted original jewelry in Saratoga Springs, NY. Learn the story behind one of downtown Saratoga's most beloved fine jewelry studios

Origin Story
From the Road to the Heart of Downtown Saratoga
deJonghe Original Jewelry traces its roots to 1975, when Dennis deJonghe began creating and selling his handmade jewelry across the country alongside his wife, Peggy. Traveling in an old panel van inherited from his father, they brought Dennis's original designs to juried craft shows along the east coast — and along the way, developed the distinctive style he's now known for.
It was during those years of showing work throughout upstate New York that Dennis and Peggy fell in love with Saratoga Springs. The town's historic character and creative community felt like home.

Storefront & Community Roots
Opening on Caroline Street
In 1982, Dennis and Peggy opened their first jewelry gallery on Caroline Street in downtown Saratoga Springs. With a permanent home for the first time, they began building the loyal customer base and deep community roots that define the business to this day. Many of those early Saratoga customers are still regulars.

470 Broadway
A Studio & Gallery on Broadway
By the late 1980s, the business had outgrown its Caroline Street space. In 1988, deJonghe Original Jewelry moved to 470 Broadway — where it remains today.
The Broadway location brought room to grow: a gallery in the front of the store features Dennis's jewelry in a setting of custom-built showcases crafted by local artisans, while the working studio in the back supports multiple craftspeople who help bring Dennis's original designs to life. Shoppers browsing the gallery can hear the hammering and forging happening just steps away — a reminder that this is a working jewelry studio, not a retail showroom.

The Next Generation
A Family Business Grows
In October 2013, Evan deJonghe — son of Dennis and Peggy — joined the studio, bringing with him a background in gemology, jewelry creation using contemporary techniques, and a focus on business and community growth. His involvement has been central to evolving both the jewelry designs and the direction of the business.
More recently, Dennis and Peggy's daughters, Sarah and Rebekah, have also joined the team — continuing the family tradition and ensuring that deJonghe Original Jewelry remains exactly that: a family jewelry studio, now into its second generation.
Over 90% of the jewelry in the deJonghe gallery is designed in-house. Every piece — from initial concept to finished work — is carefully crafted with close attention to detail.
