Quality jewelry repairs and restorations for gold and platinum jewelry in Saratoga Springs

At deJonghe Original Jewelry, we take a craftsman's approach to jewelry repair. Because we work directly with every piece of jewelry that comes through our studio, we're selective about what we take on — and we think that's a good thing. We only accept repairs we're confident we can complete to a high standard, and that the jewelry itself can withstand. If we don't feel we're the right fit for your repair, we'll tell you honestly.

What We Don't Repair

We specialize in gold and platinum only. We do not repair sterling silver, hollow jewelry, or watches of any kind — including band adjustments and battery replacements.

Our Repair Philosophy

We evaluate every repair from a practical standpoint: will this jewelry hold up to the work, and will it last with daily wear? If we have doubts about the overall integrity of what you've brought in, we'll share them with you directly.

We understand that jewelry often carries deep sentimental value. Our assessment, however, is always based on structural and functional condition. Completing a repair on jewelry that can't support it typically leads to more problems down the road — and we'd rather be upfront with you than have your jewelry back on our bench a few months later.

If we're not comfortable with a repair, we'll tell you — and explain why.

How We Work

You're talking to the craftsman

When you bring your jewelry in, you're meeting directly with the jeweler doing the work — not a drop-off counter.

We show you what we see

Using a microscopic camera displayed on-screen, we walk you through exactly what we're observing before making any recommendations.

We're honest about the condition

If the jewelry can't hold up to the repair long-term, we'll tell you. Our goal is work that lasts — not a quick fix that comes back.

Specialty work when needed

Some repairs — like gemstone polishing or intricate setting work — will need to go to trusted outside specialists. It is insured at every step of the repair process.

Turnaround & Pricing

Most repairs take 4 to 5 weeks. We balance repair work alongside our custom design and original collections, so we appreciate your patience. Estimates are provided in person — we don't quote over the phone, but we're happy to tell you whether something is within our scope before you come in.

Annual Cleaning

We recommend a professional cleaning once a year. It keeps your jewelry looking its best and lets us catch small issues — a loose prong, early setting wear — before they become costly repairs.

Get Started

The best way to discuss a repair is to come in. We'll take a look, show you what we're seeing, and give you an honest assessment.

FAQ

We repair gold and platinum jewelry only. This includes ring resizing, prong retipping and rebuilding, setting replacement, channel repair, clasp replacement, diamond replacement, and engraving. We do not repair sterling silver, hollow jewelry, or watches of any kind.

Most repairs take 4 to 5 weeks. Because we're an active working studio — balancing repairs alongside custom design work and our own collections — turnaround can vary. We'll always give you an honest timeline when you drop off your jewelry.

Estimates are done in person. We don't quote repairs over the phone, but we're happy to tell you whether something is within our scope before you make the trip in. The best first step is to schedule an appointment or give us a call.

Not always. We evaluate every repair based on the structural integrity of the jewelry and whether it can hold up to the work and to daily wear afterward. If we don't feel comfortable with a repair — or don't think it will last — we'll tell you why and turn it down rather than do work we can't stand behind.

We take care of it the same way we'd want our own work handled. When you leave your jewelry with us, you receive a detailed receipt of the work to be performed, a photo taken at intake, secure storage in our in-store safe, and insurance coverage under our jewelers block policy.

Occasionally. Certain specialty repairs — like gemstone polishing or intricate setting work — require outside specialists we trust. When that's the case, we'll let you know upfront.

We don't just describe what we're seeing — we show you. We use a microscopic camera displayed on a screen to walk you through exactly what we're observing, whether that's a worn prong, a damaged setting, or general wear. We also use loupes and other magnification tools for a thorough assessment before making any recommendations.

We recommend a professional cleaning at least once a year. It keeps your jewelry looking its best, and more importantly, it gives us the chance to catch small issues — a loose prong, early setting wear — before they turn into costly repairs. We offer cleaning as a complimentary service, so stop in anytime.
